Frequently Asked Questions
General
What is Q? Q is an AI-native product management platform. You define your product once - pages, mission boards, context - and every AI tool you use (Cursor, Claude, Codex, etc.) gets access to that shared source of truth through integrations like MCP.
Who is Q for? Builders, founders, and product teams who use AI tools in their development workflow and want those tools to share a single, always-up-to-date product context.
Do I need to be technical to use Q? No. Q is designed for anyone involved in building a product - whether you're writing code, defining strategy, or managing execution. The AI handles the heavy lifting.
Projects
What is a project? A project is the central entity in Q. It holds all the context about what you're building: text pages, mission boards, assets, links, and integrations. Think of it as your product's single source of truth.
How many projects can I create? Free plan: up to 3 projects. Solo and Team plans: unlimited. See Plans & Credits for full details.
Can I share a project publicly? Yes. Every project can be set to private or public. Public projects can optionally be password-protected. You can also link a project to other workspaces or duplicate it.
What page types are available? Two default types: Text Pages (Markdown documents) and Mission Boards (smart kanban boards). Plus two special types (one per project): Assets for PDF uploads and Links for external references.
AI
Which AI models does Q support? Basic AI uses GPT-5 mini (free tier included). Advanced AI gives access to Claude Opus 4.6, Claude Sonnet 4.6, GPT-5.2, and Gemini 2.5 Pro.
What is the difference between General Q and Sidebar AI? General Q is an always-on co-pilot that helps with onboarding, suggests follow-ups after completing missions, and acts as a strategic helper. Sidebar AI is a chat interface where you pick a model, give Q read or edit access, and use it as a full product manager assistant with tools for page management, mission handling, semantic search, and more.
Can AI edit my pages directly? Only in Suggest mode or if you give Sidebar AI edit permissions. In Suggest mode, AI proposes changes to existing content that you can accept or decline - it never overwrites without your approval.
What are AI credits? Credits are how advanced AI usage is billed. Solo plan includes $10/mo in credits. All plans can purchase pay-as-you-go credits that never expire. Usage is billed based on actual token consumption.
Integrations
How do I connect Q to Cursor or Claude? Through the MCP server. Create an MCP token in your project settings, copy the server URL, and add it to your tool's MCP config. See the MCP Server page for step-by-step instructions.
Does Q work with tools other than Cursor and Claude? Yes. Any tool that supports the Model Context Protocol (MCP) can connect to Q. We also offer raw file exports, agent skill exports, Cursor Rules exports, and GitHub integration.
Is there a REST API? Not currently. The MCP server is the primary integration point. For file-based workflows, use the export options.
Billing
Can I try Q for free? Yes. The Free plan is available to everyone - no credit card required. It includes 3 projects, 50 basic AI requests per month, and community support.
Can I upgrade or downgrade anytime? Yes. Upgrades take effect immediately with prorated billing. Downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing period.
Do unused AI credits roll over? Solo plan monthly credits reset each billing period (yearly plans roll over within the subscription year). Pay-as-you-go credits never expire.
How do I cancel? You can cancel your subscription anytime from workspace settings. You'll retain access until the end of your current billing period.
